Sometimes we make some pendulum clocks after specific request from our customers or following our preferences. This time, following the hints from a book by John Wilding, we have made something different.

Pendulum

The most valuable part of the clock under our point of view.
We'll never end to admire the excellent work made by master French clockmakers who worked on these movements. They are optimized in every aspect and are capable to run for centuries if periodically overhauled. All brass parts are mirror finished, steel parts like screws and levers are blued and create a unique contrast, typical of the best clock production.

French movement

A very small pendulum clock: less than 7 inches high. Great accuracy in timekeeping cannot be expected from such a short regulator. An error of 3 or 4 minutes per day is in the norm. When it was made, in the '800s, it was perfectly acceptable. It has alarm function, too. Dial is in porcelain, hands in steel.

Small pendulum clock - decorations

The worthy thing to note is the topic of the decorations, with "diabolic" subject. They are indeed of excellent quality.

Octagonal timekeeper

This elegant octagonal timekeeper (diagonal 3 inches) has a turtle leaf dial. This semi-transparent material allows part of the movement to be seen behind the dial. It was made in Switzerland, 8-day movement, highly polished brass case lacquered to prevent oxidation.

A typical French mantel clock, with hour and half strike on a bell, made during the second half of XIX Century. The case is in lacquered wood. The movement runs for 15 days on one wind.
